Anthony Whitmore
Anthony B. Whitmore is Director of Government and Community Relations at Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority. His chief focus is on legislative efforts at the state and federal level as well as support to our regional community relations efforts.
Whitmore served as the Governor’s Regional Director for Region IV from 1997 to 2003. He was responsible for facilitating economic growth in Champaign, Clark, Clinton, Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Shelby Counties. He was also responsible for the Governor’s Economic Development Office, Ohio Department of Industrial Training Program, and other state agencies.

Whitmore served as a liaison for the Governor’s office and state government to provide outreach assistance to local units of government, business leaders, elected officials, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, and the state ombudsman program. Whitmore also served as liaison between state government and local business.

A Dayton resident, Whitmore served the Voinovich and Taft administrations in several capacities. He also served as Department of Development’s Deputy Director of Minority Affairs and Minority Business, responsible for all minority affairs with business and labor leaders, government officials and legislators. He oversaw the statewide Minority Contractors and Business Assistance Program, the Office of Management and Technical Services, Special Projects, and the Office of Contract Procurement Services. He served as liaison for the Director of the Ohio Department of Development as well as the direct liaison with the State Equal Employment Office Division and the Equal Opportunity Center (EOC), and kept the EOC abreast of current programs and developments important to the minority business community.
Since 1990, Whitmore has been a Senior Associate of Aurora Associates, Inc.’s International Division, Washington, D.C., and, from 1986-1990, was a Senior Administrator and Vocational Advisor for USAID/BANFES in Southern Africa.

He was Executive Director of Dayton Job Corps from 1986 to 1988, as well as its Director of Education and Training from 1985 to 1986. Whitmore’s background includes experience as a business and educational consultant, educator, motivational speaker; entrepreneur, college instructor, and talk show host.
