THE MONTGOMERY COUNTY PREVENTION COALITION CALLS FOR LOCAL ARTISTS

DAYTON, OH – The Montgomery County Prevention Coalition (MCPC) calls for local artists to design a mural in Old North Dayton (OND) inspired by the community's diverse population that fosters hope and resiliency. This mural will be a project created for and by OND community members. Youth and adults who live, work, and play in Greater Old North Dayton and Montgomery County will have the opportunity to participate in creating this community art piece.
Applicants are required to submit an application that includes an artist statement, two samples of previous work, three references, and a concept drawing by Sunday, August 22, 2021, at 11:59 P.M.
This mural is being commissioned by the Suicide Prevention committee of the MCPC, with support from Buck Run Commercial Doors & Hardware, Old North Dayton (OND) leaders and neighbors, and the Montgomery County ADAMHS Board. According to MCPC Program Manager Colleen Oakes, "The MCPC Suicide Prevention committee hopes this mural will instill a sense of hope and resiliency within the Montgomery County community. The goal is for this mural to act as a visual reminder of Old North Dayton's unique population and overall strength."
